PINEHURST, N.C. – FirstHealth of the Carolinas is proud to recognize Amelia Hernandez, a housekeeper at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, as the most recent winner of FirstHealth’s BEE Award.
The BEE Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond to show compassion and extraordinary service, fulfilling the system’s core purpose – To Care for People.
Hernandez works in Environmental Services, where she helps maintain a clean and safe environment in the hospital’s Emergency Department.
She is known for her attentiveness, commitment to working hard and exemplary communication skills.
A fellow team member nominated Hernandez for her willingness to go above and beyond not only for patients, but also for her entire team in the ED.
“Her positive attitude, infectious smile and willingness to go the extra mile has not gone unnoticed,” the team member said.
“You will never find Amelia sitting around not doing anything. She is constantly on the go, ensuring the cleanliness of the department. Her commitment to excellence is an inspiration to all of us and we are very fortunate to have her as part of our ED family.”
Hernandez has been with FirstHealth for around a year now, and while she has worked as a housekeeper before, this is her first time working in an emergency department.
Thomas (T.P.) King, director of Enivronmental Services at MRH, said Hernandez didn’t let the dynamic work environment intimidate her.
“She put her head up and charged right in,” he said. “She has learned how to maneuver around the fast-paced influx of patients and communicate with nursing staff. She is a hard-working employee who is willing to go the extra mile.”
