Safe Kids Mid-Carolinas Region

Safe Kids Mid-Carolinas Region is led by FirstHealth Community Health Services in partnership with local law enforcement and fire departments.

Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.

    The goal of the class is to provide specific information about the latter stages of pregnancy, labor and delivery, a tour of the Women and Children’s center, as well as what to expect following delivery.

    Expectant parents will learn what to expect in the latter stages of pregnancy, when to go to the hospital, different stages of labor and what happens during delivery.

    The group offers a safe and welcoming space to talk about postpartum care, breastfeeding stressors, change in identity/role and the importance of sleep and self-care.

    Expectant parents will learn the benefits of breastfeeding, positions to use while breastfeeding, feeding patterns, pumping and introduction of bottles.
