Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

What is MAT?

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is used mostly for the treatment of dependence to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers that contain opiates. MAT controls how the brain works by blocking the “feel good” effects of opioids, as well as relieves the cravings and regulates body functions without the negative side effects of the drug.
