Am I a Candidate for Weight-Loss Surgery?

The Metabolic & Weight Management Center follows the National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines when considering a patient for bariatric surgery. You are a possible candidate for weight loss surgery if:

Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 40 or higher (morbid obesity)

OR

Your BMI is between 35-40 and you have obesity co-morbidities, such as high blood pressure or diabetes

AND YOU

Are age 18 or older and have a history of failure to control weight through other methods such as diet and exercise

BMI is a measurement of a person's body mass index, based on height and weight. Calculate your BMI with our easy to use online calculator.
