Volunteer Support

Volunteer Services at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care
Why volunteer with FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care?
We believe that the last months, weeks and days of a person’s life can be lived fully and that death, as a part of life, can be talked about openly and not whispered about as though taboo. Further, we believe that grief following the death of a loved one is not something to “get over” but rather something that generally changes as time passes and becomes easier to bear. Hospice volunteers have always been vital members of our patient care team. Our volunteers provide practical and emotional support for community members nearing the end of life. You can make a meaningful difference as a hospice volunteer in just a few hours a week, and we hope you will consider joining our hospice team.
Our patient census continues to grow and the inpatient program in the Hospice House remains busy, which increases our volunteer needs substantially. Since we resumed volunteer support following a long pandemic hiatus, expanding our volunteer capacity to support patient and program needs remains important to our continued success. Online New Volunteer training sessions are offered quarterly and include a thorough review of hospice volunteer opportunities, as well as the expectations and requirements for success.
