TAVR Procedure

The Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure offers hope for heart patients with inoperable aortic stenosis. Hear from our multidisciplinary TAVR team in the video below.

What is the tavr procedure/surgery?

The TAVR procedure stands for “transcatheter aortic valve replacement”. The Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure offers hope for heart patients with inoperable aortic stenosis.  The TAVR procedure enables the placement of a balloon-expandable aortic heart valve into the body via the catheter-based  transfemoral/transapical delivery system. The TAVR procedure is designed to provide an alternative treatment to patients in  whom the traditional open-heart surgery can not be performed and patients who are at high risk for traditional aortic valve  replacement.
