Setting You Up For Success

Whether you're an experienced nurse, or its your first day, we want you to be comfortable in your new environment. At FirstHealth, our goal is to provide expert care for our patients and a healthy and safe work environment for our staff. For new graduate nurses, we create opportunities for continual growth as they begin their nursing career. The Nurse Residency Program is one of those opportunities: a one-year program that prepares each new graduate for their role as a nurse.

New Graduate Programs

Nursing Orientation

Our comprehensive and individualized nursing orientation program is designed to assist you settle into your new role. 

R.N. Residency

New nurses who are fresh out of nursing school are enrolled in FirstHealth’s R.N. Residency program upon hire. The R.N. Residency program provides an opportunity for new nurse graduates to be supported and integrated into the hospital culture as they transition from student to registered nurse. Through formal and clinical education, the program focuses on strengthening proficiency and ensure the nurse’s role in patient safety and outcomes. All new graduate nurses at FirstHealth must participate in the nurse residency program. The program is 12 months in length and has two cycles: July and February.

Professional Development

We want you to reach your full potential as a nurse and we’re eager to support you on your journey. Fifty seven percent of FirstHealth nurses have obtained their Bachelors of Nursing degree. Our Clinical Practice and Professional Development department is available to mentor and guide you through the process of earning your BSN.
