Short-Term Rehabilitation

FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital offers comprehensive short-term rehabilitation services to help patients regain strength, mobility and independence after surgery, illness or injury. Our program is designed for individuals who need skilled medical or therapy support but no longer require a full inpatient hospital stay.

Patients typically stay two to three weeks, with the goal of transitioning safely back home with renewed confidence and improved function.

Who Qualifies for Short-Term Rehab?

To be approved for short-term rehabilitation, patients must have a skilled medical need. Common qualifying situations include:

  • IV antibiotics administered more than once a day
  • Short-term rehabilitation or skilled physical therapy needs, such as strengthening after surgery or illness
  • Complex wound care or frequent dressing changes

Insurance Requirements

  • Managed Medicare, Medicaid & Private Insurance: Pre-authorization required
  • Traditional Medicare A & B: A three-midnight inpatient stay within the past 30 days is required for coverage

Our Rehabilitation Services

Patients receive a coordinated plan of care that may include:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech-Language Therapy

Our experienced therapists provide personalized treatments focused on improving independence and activities of daily living. Patients and families receive education and home exercise programs to support long-term success.
