High-Risk Pregnancy Care at FirstHealth

Specialists in maternal-fetal medicine have two to three years of additional formal education as well as clinical knowledge and experience in the obstetrical, medical, genetic and surgical complications of pregnancy and their effects on mother and child. They have advanced training in dealing with complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures during pregnancy.

Labor & Delivery Services in Pinehurst

Designed to serve the unique medical needs of both mothers and babies, the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Birthing Center combines the latest medical technology with the compassionate care of highly trained physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other staff to assure that every patient care experience is a comfortable and secure one.

You will be assigned to a Labor & Delivery Room at Moore Regional Hospital, where experienced nurses will support and care for you as you prepare to deliver. Each of these rooms is equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring, a whirlpool tub and labor aids including Birthing Balls.

For existing patients with a MyChart account, request an appointment through MyChart.

For New Patients:

If you are a new patient, call the new patient line at (910) 692-7928, choose the option for which location you would like to visit, press option. If you have a question for the OB or GYN nurse, call (910) 692-7928, choose your location and use option 3.

For FirstHealth OB/GYN in Richmond:

Call 910-417-3477 and follow the prompts.

For Existing Patients:

Existing patients with a MyChart account, should login to MyChart to request an appointment with your provider. If you do not have a MyChart account:

If you are an established patient without MyChart, please call the office at (910) 692-7928, choose your location, option 2 to schedule an appointment, then option 2 for established patients. Listen for your doctor’s name to reach their secretary.

When should I expect my first appointment?

You should call to schedule your first prenatal visit as soon as you know you’re pregnant. Your first appointment may be between 9-7 weeks.  There is an expected visit schedule for routine prenatal care. Learn more here.

What is the process if I would like to transfer my obstetric care?

When you call our office to transfer obstetric care, you will be asked a series of questions regarding insurance, health history and demographics as part of our OB intake process. This will help to expedite the appointment process. Once all information is verified, we will call to schedule your appointment. Contact your previous obstetrician to ensure your medical records are sent to us so we can complete the intake process.

What happens if my doctor is not at the hospital when I go into labor?

Our doctors work together as a team of physicians and advanced practitioners to ensure complete care during your pregnancy and delivery. One of our providers will always be covering labor and delivery along with a team of obstetric hospitalists to ensure you receive the best care possible.

Do you offer telehealth services?

Some of our providers do offer telehealth visits. You can reach out via MyChart for that request.

Do you have Spanish-speaking staff?

Yes! We do have staff and providers that speak Spanish. 

Do you have an evening clinic?

We do not offer evening clinics, however, if you are an OB patient and have a concern, please call the physician on call at L&D. For non-emergent needs, FirstHealth offers Convenient Care Clinics that are open for walk-in care seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Visit FirstHealthConvenientCare.org for more information.

How do I know what providers deliver at Moore Regional Hospital?

FirstHealth offers prenatal care throughout our service area at locations in Lee, Moore, Richmond and Hoke counties. Our OB/GYN hospitalists are also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to enhance the care and support provided to laboring moms at Moore Regional Hospital.

What is an OB/GYN hospitalist?

OB/GYN Hospitalists work in collaboration with our in clinic OB/GYNs to provide enhanced care and support to our OB/GYN patients. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. OB/GYN Hospitalists can handle labor and delivery, manage complications during childbirth and perform cesarean sections when necessary. All of our OB/GYN Hospitalists are board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

What is the difference between an OB/GYN Hospitalist and an OB/GYN in an outpatient setting?

OB/GYN Hospitalists ONLY provide care in the hospital setting. However, they have access to your medical history and are in direct communication with providers in the outpatient clinic setting.

  • New Mother Support Group

    The group offers a safe and welcoming space to talk about postpartum care, breastfeeding stressors, change in identity/role and the importance of sleep and self-care.

  • Breastfeeding Education Class

    Expectant parents will learn the benefits of breastfeeding, positions to use while breastfeeding, feeding patterns, pumping and introduction of bottles.

  • One-Day Prepared Childbirth Class

    The goal of the class is to provide specific information about the latter stages of pregnancy, labor and delivery, a tour of the Women and Children’s center, as well as what to expect following delivery.

  • Childbirth Basics

    Expectant parents will learn what to expect in the latter stages of pregnancy, when to go to the hospital, different stages of labor and what happens during delivery.

  • Prepared Childbirth Series

    The goal of the series is to provide specific information about the latter stages of pregnancy, labor and delivery, a tour of the Women and Children’s center, Infant CPR and Choking, newborn care, car seat safety, as well as what to expect following delivery. Registration is required and the class cost is $120.
