COVID-19 Vaccines & Boosters
FirstHealth offers COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots at several of its primary care and occupational health clinics across our service area. Appointments are required. Anyone 18 and older is eligible to be vaccinated, and those 12 and older can be scheduled to receive a vaccine by their parent or legal guardian.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, including all primary series doses and boosters for their age group. Visit the CDC’s website to see vaccine and booster recommendations for people ages 6 months and older.

COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots are also available by appointment through local providers, including local health departments and pharmacy locations such as CVS, Walgreens and Walmart. Pediatric and youth vaccines are available at local health departments, pediatric practices and pharmacies.
COVID-19 Testing
FirstHealth offers COVID-19 testing seven days a week at its Convenient Care clinics. Those seeking tests can register and check in from their car upon arrival at Convenient Care. Those seeking tests should not visit FirstHealth hospital emergency rooms.

The cost for COVID-19 testing depends on the type of test before insurance or other financial assistance discounts are applied. If you have health insurance, you will likely pay nothing, as most insurance companies are fully covering the cost of testing. Doctor visits and other services outside of the test, including convenient care and emergency room visits, are billed separately as any other medical services at FirstHealth of the Carolinas.
Isolation guidelines, COVID-19 Health Tips
There are many ways you can lower your risk of contracting COVID-19. Be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms, which include fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell.
CDC’s COVID-19 Community Levels provide information about the amount of severe illness in the community where you are located to help you decide when to take action to protect yourself and others.
In addition to basic health and hygiene practices, like handwashing, CDC recommends some prevention actions at all COVID-19 Community Levels, which include:
- Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
- Improving ventilation
- Getting tested
- Following recommendations for what to do if you have been exposed
- Staying home if you have suspected or confirmed COVID-19
- Seeking treatment if you have COVID-19
- Avoiding contact with people who have suspected or confirmed COVID-19
Ways we are keeping you safe
FirstHealth has always been committed to providing exceptional care, and that remains true during this pandemic. Throughout our system, we have implemented robust procedures for ensuring your health and safety. Masks are required at all FirstHealth facilities and clinics, and visitor restrictions remain in place at our hospitals.
- Visitation is encouraged Monday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Two visitors per patient
- One visitor per emergency department patient
- No visitors under the age of 12
All visitors entering a FirstHealth facility must review COVID-19 screening questions and undergo temperature screening. Required screening questions:
- Do you have COVID-19 or have you been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
- Do you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath?
- Have you recently lost taste and/or smell with no other explanation?
Visitors should not enter the facility if they answer yes to any of these questions. Additionally, visitors will be required to undergo temperature screening upon entering the facility.

Our Primary Care and Convenient Care clinics are offering video, phone or curbside visits, and the FirstHealth On the Go app allows you to meet with a doctor anytime, anywhere on your smartphone.
