Nurse Practitioner Joins FirstHealth Cardiology

| Date Posted: 2/7/2020

PINEHURST—Moore County native, Joseph Watts, FNP, has joined the team of providers at FirstHealth Cardiology located at 7 Regional Circle in the Heather Glen Office Park in Pinehurst.

Watts worked for 14 years as a registered nurse in the cardiac ICU at Moore Regional Hospital before deciding to advance his education and career to become a family nurse practitioner.  “I have always enjoyed helping others,” he said.  “My decision to become a nurse practitioner allows me to expand my role in caring for patients and improving their quality of life.”

Watts added that he’s always enjoyed challenges, so advancing his education to further his career as a provider was a challenge he was happy to take on.

Watts earned his bachelor of science degree in nursing from Winston Salem State University.  He earned his master of science degree in family nurse practitioner from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

At FirstHealth Cardiology, Watts joins Mark D. Landers, M.D., H. Allen Strunk, Jr., D.O., Peter J. Vassallo, M.D., and Amy Cradic, FNP, and Dinah Welch, FNP.  He will see patients at Moore Regional Hospital and in the outpatient clinic.

Watts has been married for 11 years to his high school sweetheart.  They have an eight-year-old son and six-year-old daughter.  When he’s not caring for patients, Watts enjoys spending time with his family and taking trips to the beach.  He’s an avid sports fan and enjoys following his beloved Carolina Panthers and UNC Tar Heels.
