Speakers: 
Jason M. Jerry, M.D.
Dr. Jerry completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo in Toledo, OH.  He completed his internship and residency at the University of Miami‑Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, FL.  Dr. Jerry is board certified in Psychiatry and he is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine.  He is professionally associated with FirstHealth of the Carolinas as the Medical Director for Behavioral Services.

Learning Objectives:

  • Appreciate that opiate addiction is not a new phenomenon
  • Inventory the treatment approaches that have been tried over the years
  • Investigate the modern evidence-based approaches to be recommended for the treatment of opiate addiction, including MAT (medication assisted treatment)

 

Target Audience:
All physicians and health care providers who work with patients treated with opioids

 

Gap to be Filled:
Poor recognition of patients’ abuse and misuse of opioids, and lack of knowledge of evidenced-based treatment for the fight against opioid use disorder

 

Goals of this Live Activity:
Treat (or refer) patients for optimal treatments that support the fight against opioid use disorder
