Learning Objectives:
• Examine “lessons learned” from the Spring 2020 school year related to distance learning
• Discuss the benefits and potential risks for technology use, to include gaming, among kids

• Review current epidemiology and best practices for diagnosis and management of children with acute COVID-19 and MIS-C
• Overcome challenges of continuing routine patient care during the pandemic

Speaker: Janey R. Phelps, MD, UNC – Chapel Hill School of Medicine
Learning Objectives:
• Examine when opioid use in children is appropriate
• Discuss opioid alternatives in children
• Manage the risks associated with opioid use, particularly in adolescents
• Discuss MAT (medication for addiction treatment) and the role of primary care pediatricians in the treatment of opioid use disorder
11:20 a.m. Topic: Telehealth and Teens: Caring for the digital generation at their virtual bedside
Speaker: Richard Chung, MD, Duke University School of Medicine
Learning Objectives:
• Describe core terms and foundational principles of telehealth generally
• Explore key aspects of adolescent health and illness that lend themselves to telehealth applications
• Delineate best practices and novel strategies for optimally leveraging telehealth tools in everyday practice caring for teens

Faculty:
Thomas H. Belhorn, M.D., PhD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine
Dr. Belhorn completed his medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, AL in pediatrics. Dr. Belhorn completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He is a Professor in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
Janey R. Phelps, MD, UNC – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine
Dr. Phelps completed her medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. She completed her residency in anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She is certified in pediatrics and anesthesiology, and is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Anesthesiology with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
Richard J. Chung, MD, Duke University School of Medicine
Dr. Chung completed his medical education at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT, and his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He completed a fellowship in adolescent and young adult medicine at Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He is certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (General and Adolescent Medicine). He is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics and Medicine with the Duke University School of Medicine.
David L. Hill, MD, Goldsboro Pediatrics and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine
Dr. Hill completed his medical education at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, TX. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He is board certified in pediatrics. Dr. Hill is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. He is professionally associated with Goldsboro Pediatrics in Wayne County, NC and works a hospitalist pediatrician.
