PINEHURST- FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital has once again been ranked as one of the best hospitals in North Carolina by U.S. News & World Report.

In the publication’s annual Best Hospital’s recognition, Moore Regional is ranked 9th in the state and was recognized as high performing in several procedures and conditions.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 30th year, help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The Best Hospitals methodologies are based largely or entirely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.

“We're proud to once again be ranked one of the best hospitals by U.S. News,” says Mickey W. Foster, chief executive officer for FirstHealth of the Carolinas. “This recognition is evidence of the expertise and skill of our physicians, nurses and staff. Collectively, they work hard every day to deliver the highest quality care to our patients. Their dedication to our patients is unmatched.”

Moore Regional Hospital earned “High Performing” ratings for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery, in recognition of care that was significantly better than the national average, as measured by factors such as patient outcomes. “High Performing” is the highest rating U.S. News awards for those conditions.

As departments of the hospital, both Moore Regional’s Richmond and Hoke campuses are also included in this ranking.

“Our strong rankings across many services demonstrate our ability to deliver safe, high- quality care to the patients we serve. They know they will receive excellent care, close to home, at any FirstHealth facility,” says John F. Krahnert, M.D., FirstHealth’s chief medical officer. “Our commitment to our patients and their families goes beyond their medical care, we are committed to caring for the whole person and working with them to improve their quality of life.”

For three decades, U.S. News has strived to make hospital quality more transparent to health care consumers nationwide.

"By providing the most comprehensive data available on nearly every hospital across the United States, we give patients, families and physicians information to support their search for the best care across a range of procedures, conditions and specialties,” says Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News.
