SANFORD– Vindya Jeyaretnam, D.O., family medicine physician, has joined FirstHealth Primary Care located on the Lee Campus at 2919 Beechtree Drive in Sanford.
Dr. Jeyaretnam provides full spectrum medicine including women’s health, osteopathic medicine and pediatrics. She also has advanced training in wound care.
Dr. Jeyaretnam earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a family medicine residency program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association.
According to Dr. Jeyaretnam, she was drawn to the practice of family medicine because of the special relationships formed with patients and their families.
“Seeing families grow and have children, and then to be able to take care of their entire family and form that special bond is amazing,” she said.
Dr. Jeyaretnam joins Addison Zhang, M.D., and Jennifer Roehrs, D.O., at the Lee Campus practice dedicated to meeting the primary care needs of patients of all ages, from newborns to senior adults, in Sanford and surrounding communities.
“What attracted me most to FirstHealth is everyone I met during my interview,” Dr. Jeyaretnam said. “The FirstHealth staff and providers were all so friendly and welcoming. I knew I could easily fit in at FirstHealth and call it my home.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jeyaretnam as we continue to grow and increase access to primary care across the region,” said Dan Barnes, D.O., president of FirstHealth Physician Group. “Dr. Jeyaretnam shares our commitment to providing quality and compassionate care. She is a welcome addition to our team.”
