SANFORD—FirstHealth Orthopaedics, staffed by Jason E. Guevara, M.D., Glen D. Subin, M.D., and Whitney Albright, PA-C, will open on the FirstHealth Lee Campus at 2919 Beechtree Drive in Sanford on June 3, 2019.

The new practice will provide residents of Lee County and surrounding areas access to extensive expertise in orthopaedics.  The physicians and providers at FirstHealth Orthopaedics offer a complete range of treatments for nearly every orthopaedic condition including sports injuries; joint disorders of the knee, hip and shoulder; arthritis; neck, spine and back injuries and disorders; osteoporosis; and hand and foot disorders.

“At FirstHealth Orthopaedics, we are committed to providing the highest level of orthopaedic care in the Sandhills region,” says Jason Guevara, M.D., a longtime orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Pinehurst.  “We are proud to be able to expand our services to FirstHealth Lee Campus to further serve our patients.”

Dr. Guevara earned his medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco and completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the University of Pittsburgh.  He specializes in antero-lateral total hip replacements, partial joint replacements, cartilage transplants, sports medicine and knee arthroscopy, and lower extremity fractures. Dr. Guevara also specializes in total joint replacement surgery helping patients resume their normal activities virtually pain-free.

Dr. Guevara will be joined at the Lee Campus clinic by fellow orthopaedic surgeon Glen Subin, M.D.  Dr. Subin earned his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completed a hand surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.  Dr. Subin practiced in Moore County for nearly 30 years before leaving practice to pursue a career as an airline pilot for American Airlines.  He returned to practice in November 2018.

“I am thrilled to join FirstHealth Orthopaedics and return to taking care of many of the patients whom I’ve had the privilege to care for throughout my 30 year medical career ,” says Dr. Subin. “FirstHealth offers an award-winning orthopaedic program with a joint replacement program that has one of the highest success rates in the country, and I am proud to be associated with this organization.”

Dr. Subin is board certified in orthopaedic surgery as well as hand and microsurgery.  He specializes in disorders of the hand including arthritis of the hand and wrist, carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures and dislocations of the hand and wrist, trigger finger, sprains, tears, lacerations and wounds, trauma and more.  Other treatments include arthroscopy, foot and shoulder surgery and total joint replacement.

Drs. Guevara and Subin will also be joined by orthopaedic physician assistant Whitney Albright.  Albright earned her masters of medical science in physician assistant studies from Methodist University and will evaluate and treat a variety of general orthopaedic conditions at FirstHealth Lee Campus including rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, meniscal tears, fracture care and more.

“The goal of our team is to help patients with bone, joint or muscle problems to maximize their quality of life and level of function,” adds Dr. Guevara.  “We provide personalized care based on each patient’s specific needs whether its prevention of further injury to the most advanced surgical treatments.”

The FirstHealth Orthopaedics clinic on the Lee Campus has the added benefits of on-site diagnostic imaging services, outpatient rehabilitation and fitness center.
