For your next mammogram, a local team makes sure you get high quality

| Date Posted: 3/11/2019

TROY – For the 10th year in a row, the mammography team at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital has proven its commitment to quality exams: it has earned another perfect score on a quality survey required by federal regulations. It means that, for women who live or work in Montgomery County, they can expect not only compassion, but also quality when they need a mammogram.

“The yearly inspection is an on-site one-day review of our mammographers, radiologists, physicists (who ensure the equipment works properly), equipment and records,” says Pam Duncan, director of imaging at the hospital. “Having a perfect score in any one year is great, but to have a perfect score every year for 10 years is exceptional. It reflects how experienced and committed our staff here is, and I’m very proud of our team.”

The annual review is required by the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). Between this and another review by the American College of Radiology, the gamut of inspections is wide-reaching and includes staff training and competency, record-keeping, image quality and more.

Providing high level mammograms locally is an important service to area residents, who would otherwise have to travel out of county.

“With our long history of passing these exams, patients can trust that our mammography team at Montgomery Memorial provides the highest quality of care,” says Beth Walker, R.N., president of the FirstHealth Western Region, including Montgomery Memorial.

If you live or work in the area, call toll free at (866) 415-2778 to schedule your next mammogram at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital located at 520 Allen Street in Troy.
