FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital Receives $150,000 Grant from Cannon Foundation to Complete Flooring Project

| Date Posted: 12/18/2019

Troy, N.C. – FirstHealth of the Carolinas has received a $150,000 grant from The Cannon Foundation to support ongoing flooring replacement throughout several areas of FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

Located in Troy, Montgomery Memorial Hospital is a 79,801-square-foot, 25-bed facility originally constructed in 1950. Additions were completed in 1969 and 1992. The facility is a “Critical Access Hospital,” a federal designation granted to eligible rural hospitals to keep essential health care services available in rural areas.

Beth Walker, R.N., president of Montgomery Memorial Hospital, said the flooring upgrades are part of several improvements necessary to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.

“We are incredibly thankful to The Cannon Foundation for helping us complete this project in 2020,” Walker said.

Work on MMH’s flooring will take part in phases, with the corridors and areas primarily used by patients and visitors being the priority zones.
