ROCKINGHAM – Tarrah Taylor, R.N., is the 2018 recipient of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital (MRH) – Richmond’s Nurse of the Year award.

Taylor was selected by her peers for “taking great care of her patients,”  “serving as a resource to coworkers,” and exhibiting “excellent customer service in all of her interactions with patients, families and visitors.”

This is Taylor’s second time receiving this award.

“Being the recipient of this award is such an honor,” says Taylor. “When I think of nursing excellence, I think of someone that inspires me with their dedication, commitment, perseverance and drive. I think of someone that I would want to care for my own family. To know that the people I work with nominated ME for this award is an amazing feeling.”

MRH – Richmond presented their annual nursing awards during May’s National Nurses Week celebration.

The criteria for the Nurse of the Year award includes excellent customer service and communication skills, proficiency in clinical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving, flexibility, and composure in stressful situations.

“In addition to her clinical expertise, Tarrah excels as a charge nurse, is active in her unit-based nursing council, serves as a preceptor, teaches total joint classes to pre-operative patients, is an advocate for patients and families, serves as a role model for relationship-based care, and is always willing to help other team members,” says Allison Duckworth, R.N., nursing executive for MRH – Richmond. “Tarrah is kind and compassionate, and it is always a pleasure to interact with her.”
