Family Nurse Practitioner Joins FirstHealth Urogynecology

| Date Posted: 11/19/2018

Alexandria P. Ross, FNP-C

HAMLET – Alexandria P. Ross, FNP-C, has joined the FirstHealth Urogynecology team, joining Janet Harris-Hicks, M.D., FACOG, FPMRS, at the practice located at 108 Endo Lane, Suite 1, in Hamlet, N.C.

“We are beyond excited to have Alexandria join our team,” says Dr. Harris-Hicks. “Her addition to the staff will allow us to expand our practice and continue to provide only the best care for our Urogynecology patients.”

Ross brings pediatric and adult emergency care nursing experience to the practice having been a travel nurse working in both pediatric and adult emergency departments, including the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Emergency Department in Pinehurst. Prior to joining FirstHealth Urogynecology, she was employed as a registered nurse (R.N.) in the FirstHealth Women and Children’s Department at Moore Regional Hospital.

A South Carolina native, Ross attended The University of South Carolina (USC) in Columbia, S.C., where she received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees.

“While working as a registered nurse with FirstHealth I was able to complete all of my required nurse practitioner clinical hours within the system and was granted the opportunity to learn from several phenomenal FirstHealth providers,” says Ross.

This past summer, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with her master of science in nursing.

“I am so excited to be working with Dr. Harris-Hicks who is a Board Certified Urogynecologist,” she says.  “I am looking forward to helping improve the quality of life for so many women.”

“Thousands of women suffer from pelvic floor disorders, such as urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic-organ prolapse, overactive bladder and painful bladder syndrome,” adds Ross. “These disorders can cause embarrassment and affect their quality of life. Additionally, these women won’t seek the medical attention needed that can provide them with a lifestyle they once thought abandoned them. In my short time as part of this team, I have loved watching patients come back into our office so overjoyed and appreciative because for the first time in years, they have been able to take back control of their lives and enjoy daily activities that were once impossible.”

Ross is a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates. She resides in Moore County with her husband and their son.
