PINEHURST – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), released its ratings of hospitals’ quality on the Hospital Compare website in December of 2017.
FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital was one of only two hospitals in the region to receive a five-star rating for overall quality.
“We are honored to be recognized with five stars for overall quality from CMS’ Hospital Compare,” says Beth Walker, R.N., president of FirstHealth’s Western Region. “It takes a lot of effort on everyone’s part to achieve excellence in all areas of patient care. Our focus is to provide quality care that will benefit our patients.
The CMS Hospital Compare rating system was established in 2015 to help consumers make sense of overall quality information when choosing a hospital. CMS uses publicly reported data to evaluate hospitals across seven areas. The overall rating incorporates outcomes data and patient experience data to arrive at the overall hospital quality rating. The ratings are updated each July and December. Only 7.36% of hospitals nationwide were rated as five-star hospitals.
