Speaker: Arghavan Almony, M.D. Dr. Almony completed her medical education at Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. She completed her transitional year internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, MO, and her residency in Ophthalmology at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Almony also completed a Vitreoretinal fellowship at the Barnes Retina Institute, Washington University, St. Louis, MO. She is professionally associated with Carolina Eye Associates.
Objectives At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
• Discuss signs of diabetic retinopathy
• Examine the testing and systemic workup that is important in retinal vascular occlusions
• Use testing and systemic workup that is important in optic disc edema Professional Practice Gap to be filled: Lack of knowledge of ophthalmic symptoms that can assist with the diagnosis of systemic disease
