Target Audience Pediatricians and other physicians who care for infants.

Speaker Paula P. Meier, PhD, R.N., FAAN

Dr. Meier completed her BSN at the University of Illinois College of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her MSN at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Meier completed her PhD at Rush University College of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She is the Director for Clinical Research and Lactation, Neonatal Intensive Care, Professor of Women, Children and Family Nursing, and Professor of Pediatrics, Rush University Medical Center.

Objectives At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

• Use evidence-based lactation technologies to diagnose and manage routine and complicated Human Milk feeding problems

• Use evidence-based talking points, monitoring tools, policies and procedures and quality improvement initiatives for the use of Human Milk for all populations Professional Practice Gap to be filled: Infrastructure and knowledge to optimize lactation outcomes with LPT (late preterm) and ET (early term) infants
