PINEHURST – For the second time, FirstHealth Dental Care has received donations of health care products under a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Global Product Donation Program.
Several donations, valued at between $5,000 and $25,000 over the course of two years, will allow FirstHealth to more effectively carry out its mission and expand its ability to provide care for underserved children.
“It is an honor to once again receive this grant from Henry Schein Cares,” says Sharon Nicholson Harrell, DDS, director of FirstHealth Dental Care. “This grant allows us to provide necessary care for the underserved populations in Moore, Montgomery and Hoke counties. It is our mission to provide only the best care, and we are incredibly grateful that Henry Schein Cares recognizes our mission and is allowing us to help even more children with this grant.”
During the past nearly 20 years, FirstHealth Dental Care has provided dental care to more than 28,000 underserved children. About 70 percent of the children seen during the program’s very first year of operation had either never seen a dentist at all or hadn’t been to the dentist in more than a year. Children from birth to 21 years who receive Medicaid or Health Choice or who are uninsured and qualify by income level are eligible for the program’s services.
