U.S. News & World Report Ranks Moore Regional One of State’s Best Hospitals

PINEHURST – FirstHealth Moore Regional has once again been ranked as one of the best hospitals in North Carolina by U.S. News & World Report.
In the publications annual Best Hospital’s recognition, Moore Regional was ranked eighth in the state and was recognized as high-performing in several specialties and procedures or conditions.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The Best Hospitals methodologies include objective measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, adequacy of nurse staffing and more.
For 2016-17, 153 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty, while 1,628 received a high-performing rating in one or more specialties, procedures or conditions. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals that were high-performing across multiple areas of care.
Moore Regional achieved the highest rating possible in eight procedures/ conditions including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, colon cancer surgery, COPD, hip and knee replacements, and lung cancer surgery. The hospital was also ranked high-performing in the specialties of geriatrics, pulmonology and urology.

According to John Krahnert, M.D., FirstHealth’s chief medical officer, Moore Regional Hospital’s continued presence on the state’s Best Hospital list is proof of the commitment from medical staff, nurses and other caregivers to meet the needs of patients in the communities FirstHealth serves.
As departments of the hospital, both Moore Regional’s Richmond and Hoke campuses are also included in this ranking.

Moore Regional was also recently ranked No. 8 in the “best hospital” ranking and No. 1 in the “patient picks” list by Business North Carolina magazine, and was recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina as a “cutting-edge hospital” for quality and expertise in cardiac care.
