RAEFORD – Tricia Reich has been an FNP-C (Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified) for more than two years. For 20 years previously, she was a registered nurse, working in various nursing settings, which, she believes, helped prepare her for the primary care provider role of an FNP.
“I returned to graduate school to obtain my Masters of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner, because I believed I could offer patients excellent care as a provider due in large part to a solid foundation I gleaned in the nursing field,” Reich says. “My previous positions in nursing provided invaluable experience that I knew would benefit patients I would see as a primary caregiver.
Reich’s nursing foundation included positions in neonatal intensive care, school nursing, home health, skilled and private duty nursing, and public health – experience she will bring to her new position as a certified family nurse practitioner with FirstHealth Family Medicine in Raeford. She will join Marcus Lowry, M.D., Robert Townsend, D.O., and Michael E. Nissen, FNP, in the Teal Drive location in mid-August.
Throughout her nursing career, Reich has worked with patients of all ages and backgrounds, which she believes has prepared her to offer the particular care required of a family medicine practitioner.
“As a nurse, I have learned to listen to my patients, to value them and to offer teaching that assists them in improving their physical, mental and emotional well-being,” she says.
Reich earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
She has worked in health care programs and offices throughout Hoke and Robeson County and most recently was a family nurse practitioner with an internal medicine office in Lumberton. Originally from Winston-Salem, she moved to the Robeson County area in the 1990s to be a part of a Bible Fellowship Church and to be near family living in the area.
FirstHealth Family Medicine-Raeford is located at 313 Teal Drive. To make an appointment with Tricia Reich, FNP-C, or one of the other providers, call (910) 904-2350.
