RAEFORD – Beverly Alphin, R.N., is ready for a new challenge and expects to find it in her new role as director of Patient Care Services/nurse executive for FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus.
She will assume the position, which involves daily supervision of the hospital’s Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical nursing unit and ancillary services, on May 9, and will report directly to hospital President Susan K. Beaty, R.N.
“I’m excited about the opportunity,” Alphin says. “I’m excited about being able to grow with the Hoke Campus to facilitate growth for the FirstHealth system, and I especially look forward to working with Susan Beaty. I know and admire her and have watched her career over the years, and I have a lot of respect for her ability to mentor.”
Beaty is equally pleased to have Alphin join her Hoke Campus team. “Beverly has a wide range of nursing experience, especially in areas related to critical care,” she says, “and she is known and respected as a nurse leader. We welcome her professionalism, experience and nursing compassion to our hospital.”
A native of Florida, Alphin earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Alabama in Mobile and took her first job, as a new nurse graduate in critical care, in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1981. She worked in various staff and leadership roles in Washington, D.C., and LaPlata, Maryland, before joining the Moore Regional Hospital nursing staff in 1996.
Alphin took her first nurse leadership role with Moore Regional, as assistant director of the 3A and Critical Care nursing units, in 2001. With the 2011 opening of FirstHealth’s Reid Heart Center, she was named clinical director of the Cardiovascular Thoracic, Inpatient Surgical and Critical Care nursing units with direct responsibility for 90 employees.
Alphin and her husband, Ron, have an adult son, David, who works in FirstHealth’s Information Systems department.
