ROCKINGHAM – Healogics Inc. has once again recognized the Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital with the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award that is given for meeting Healogics Center of Distinction quality standards.

Healogics Inc. is the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. Out of its nearly 800 wound care centers, 168 were eligible and 110 received the Center of Excellence award, which is named for a wound care pioneer and a former Healogics chief medical officer.

To receive a Center of Excellence award, a wound care program must have achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days, among other quality standards, for a minimum of two consecutive years.

FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics offers specialized care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

”This honor is an acknowledgement of what our patients already know: that our wound care clinic delivers wonderful care from the front desk through the nursing care, case management and hyperbaric treatment to healing,” says Jeffrey R. Gibbons, M.D., assistant medical director for FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics. “As a care provider, I am fortunate and proud to work with this team.”

According to John Jackson, president of FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, the program’s primary focus is on providing the best possible wound care treatment to its patients.

“This is another high-quality service offered by FirstHealth to Richmond County residents,” he says, “and this award reflects the compassion that a very dedicated staff has for its patients as indicated by these outstanding wound healing rates and patient satisfaction scores.”

Headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., Healogics is the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. Healogics and its affiliated companies saw approximately 285,000 new patients in 2015 through a connected network of partner hospitals and wound care centers, academic medical centers and other post‐acute sites.
