Speaker

Joel M. Monroe, PsyD

Dr. Monroe completed his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington D.C. Campus. He completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia – Regents University at East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.  Dr. Monroe is currently a Licensed Psychologist at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss a positive and recovery-oriented conceptualization of voice hearing experiences
  • Examine etiological and phenomenological characteristics of clinical and nonclinical voice hearers
  • Identify assessment procedures and supportive techniques for coping with distressing voices

 

Professional Practice Gap to be filled:  Lack of knowledge of voice hearing
