My name is Donette Matthias and I live in Pinehurst, N.C.
I am a 35-year-old mother of two. My daughter, Lily Elizabeth is six and my son, Leon III, is 2! My husband, Leon Jr., is an Officer in the U.S. Army.
I have been a member of FirstHealth Fitness in Pinehurst since May of 2011.
There are several reasons why my family and I enjoy FirstHealth Fitness.
First, I enjoy the camaraderie of a group of individuals who are of different gender, age and different walks of life who have the opportunity to come together daily to challenge ourselves physically, and in certain instances mentally. In the group fitness classes we encourage and motivate each other to finish strong. We inspire and support one another. In a group fitness setting, friendships are made, which makes returning to classes so much more enjoyable!
I especially enjoy being instructed by very knowledgable, supportive and humorous fitness coaches and instructors. For the length of time I am at the gym, I prefer not to think about what my workout for the day is going to comprise of. For me, it is important that I experience a full body workout. That is exactly what an individual will get while participating in the group classes. I most certainly do! Whether it's Body Step, Body Pump, Zumba, TRX or Crossfit, the instructors will ensure you get a full body workout that will be felt the following day!
Also, the group classes also have a very entertaining and energizing musical selection, which makes working out so much more enjoyable! I also find it easier to hold myself accountable to incorporate exercise into my daily routine when there is a schedule to follow. I am not self motivated when it comes to working out! Therefore, I know I need to be at the gym in time for my early morning group fitness class, other wise I probably won't work out that day.
Second, I love the convenience and comfort of having my children nearby in the Kid Center. Knowing that they are being cared for by a very qualified, loving and caring staff is very reassuring. They have cared for my daughter since she was three, and my son since he was just a baby. Both of my children have celebrated their birthdays there. We have formed a bond with the Kid Center staff. I truly appreciate each and everyone of the staff members. I appreciate their time and dedication in making sure my children are safe, comfortable and engaged in fun activities!
And third, activities for my children are super important to me! Swimming is an essential life skill to have to prevent or reduce the risk of drowning. Both Lily and Leon attended the Infant-Toddler Parent/Child Swim Classes at FirstHealth in Southern Pines when they were younger, which they absolutely enjoyed! Lily started swim lessons here at the Pinehurst center in July of 2014. She started in Level One Preschool Aquatics, and is now in Level Three Learn-to-Swim. She is excited about moving on to Level Four soon! The swim instructors have done an exceptional job working with her, making her feel comfortable and helping her to improve her skills and technique. Plus, her level of confidence has improved greatly!
We absolutely love the facility and look forward to many more years of fun at FirstHealth Fitness in Pinehurst.
