TROY– The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and iVantage Health Analytics have recognized FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital for overall excellence in quality.

The national ranking reflects top quartile performance among all rural acute-care hospitals in the nation.

“This recognition validates the high-quality patient care our clinical team delivers here at Montgomery Memorial,” says hospital President Beth Walker, R.N. “We strive to deliver evidence-based care, and our high-performance ranking reflects our success.  I am very proud of how we ‘care for people,’ which is our core purpose at FirstHealth of the Carolinas.”

Walker accepted a certificate acknowledging the recognition at the North Carolina Critical Access Hospital Network meeting in Greensboro on Nov. 18.

The Hospital Strength INDEX, a comprehensive and objective assessment of hospital performance, determined the quality rankings by capturing performance metrics for all rural and Critical Access Hospitals. The data-driven program developed by iVantage Health Analytics in partnership with NOSORH was designed to identify excellence across a broad spectrum of indicators relevant to hospital performance and patient care.

Montgomery Memorial was one of seven North Carolina hospitals to be recognized for quality in conjunction with the Nov. 17 observance of “National Rural Health Day,” a day set aside to honor the community-minded “can-do” spirit of rural America.

The observance highlights the unique health care challenges faced by rural residents while showcasing the efforts of rural health care providers, State Offices of Rural Health and other rural stakeholders to address those challenges.

Established in 1995, NOSORH assists State Offices of Rural Health in their efforts to improve access to, and the quality of, health care for America’s 61 million rural residents. A business analytic and advisory services company, iVantage combines technology, content and expert advisory services to help accelerate health care decision-making.
