PINEHURST, N.C. – The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) continues to grow and is excited to announce a new partnership with FirstHealth of the Carolinas.
CBCC, the local, nonprofit community blood center, is now the primary blood supplier to FirstHealth of the Carolinas in addition to 25 other regional hospitals. The blood products used in the care of patients at FirstHealth’s hospitals and medical clinics will now be collected from volunteer donors at CBCC’s local donation centers and daily mobile blood drives.
CBCC President and CEO Martin Grable said he looks forward to bringing the company’s community-focused vision to the Pinehurst area and joining forces with a hospital system dedicated to improving the quality of care provided to its patients.
“Partnering with FirstHealth of the Carolinas supports CBCC’s growth and mission, founded on the principles of community supporting community,” Grable said. “We connect local donors to local patients, saving local lives.”
“We are very excited to partner with CBCC as our blood supplier,” said Elise Forest, administrative director, FirstHealth Laboratory Services. “Its commitment to collect blood from the community and return it to the community plays a vital role in providing the blood required to treat our cancer, cardiac and trauma patients. FirstHealth shares CBCC’s mission of being a community health care institution. We were built through the benevolence of the community we serve, and we strive to work with like-minded partners to care for our patients.”
Donating blood is uniquely human, Grable said. By keeping donations local, CBCC enables people to make a difference in the lives of others who could be their neighbors, friends or even family members.
“We are building a community of sponsors and donors who are participating in their health care through the lifesaving act of blood donation,” he said. “To the person on the other end of the unit of blood, it’s absolutely priceless.”
The first Community Blood Center of the Carolinas blood drive at FirstHealth will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28 in the Conference Center at Moore Regional Hospital.
FirstHealth Fitness-Pinehurst will host a CBCC blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 12.
Montgomery Memorial Hospital will host a CBCC blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Friday, January 20 in the MMH conference room.
