FirstHealth of the Carolinas Opens Valve Clinic in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE – FirstHealth of the Carolinas has opened a Valve Clinic in Fayetteville with office hours that are available to patients on the third Wednesday of each month.
The program, which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with valve disorders such as aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, mitral stenosis and mitral regurgitation, is located at 530 Sandhurst Drive (New Hope Family Practice).
Interventional cardiologist Steven Filby, M.D., in association with cardiothoracic surgeons Art Edgerton, M.D., and Peter Ellman, M.D., provide initial patient assessment and evaluation as well as follow-up for procedures that include the minimally invasive TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). Candidates for TAVR are patients who are considered high risk or inoperable risk for surgical (open-heart) aortic valve replacement.
