PINEHURST – FirstHealth Moore Regional has once again been ranked as one of the best hospitals in North Carolina by U.S. News & World Report.

The hospital ranked seventh in the state and received special designation in four high-performing specialties: diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics and pulmonology.

U.S. News first began publishing hospital rankings in 1990 as part of an expanding group of consumer advice products. Over the past 26 years, the Best Hospitals rankings have helped guide millions of patients and their families to high-quality hospital care when they need it most.

The 2015-2016 best hospital regional rankings take into account how hospitals performed in five areas of common care.  In the first-ever ratings of best hospitals in common care released by U.S. News earlier this year, Moore Regional ranked high performing in COPD, heart failure, heart bypass and knee replacement.

“We are honored by this best hospital ranking, which comes from our entire staff and physicians placing patient safety, quality care and patient satisfaction as their top priorities each and every day,” says David J. Kilarski, chief executive officer of FirstHealth of the Carolinas.  “We strive for excellence in everything we do, and these ratings reflect our drive to be among the best.”

According to John Krahnert, M.D., FirstHealth’s chief medical officer, Moore Regional Hospital’s continued presence on the state’s best hospital list is proof of the commitment from medical staff, nurses and other caregivers to meet the needs of patients with high-quality care.

“We will continue to focus our efforts on safety, quality and patient satisfaction,” says Dr. Krahnert.  “Moore Regional’s ranking by U.S. News is a reflection of our commitment to these areas and assures our patients and their families that they are receiving top health care from one of the best hospitals in the state.”

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital’s Richmond and Hoke Campuses are also included in this ranking.  Both hospitals are departments of Moore Regional Hospital.

“This is truly a system-wide recognition,” says Kilarski.  “Patients can enter the FirstHealth network of hospitals and clinics and know that they are being cared for by some of the best health care professionals in the state.  I am proud of our team and glad that our rural communities have access to quality health care without having to go to more metropolitan areas.”

The rankings, freely available at www.usnews.com/best-hospitals, will appear in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2016” guidebook.
