SOUTHERN PINES – Sharon Nicholson Harrell, DDS, MPH, FAGD, director of FirstHealth Dental Care, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the UNC Dental Alumni Association.
Established in 2007, the Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the UNC School of Dentistry graduate who has brought credit to the school through significant and extraordinary contributions to the profession and/or his/her community.
Dr. Harrell’s award was presented during the UNC Dental Alumni Association’s Best of Dentistry Gala Dinner held April 18 in Chapel Hill.
A 1987 graduate of the UNC-School of Dentistry, Dr. Harrell joined FirstHealth in 1997 to plan the FirstHealth Dental clinics. She is now dental director for FirstHealth Dental Care, which has provided dental care to more than 26,000 underserved children in Moore, Montgomery and Hoke counties since October 1998.
