RAEFORD – In its latest expansion of services in Hoke County, FirstHealth of the Carolinas has begun offering orthopaedic and ENT surgeries at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus.
“As a FirstHealth hospital, Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus is committed to bringing FirstHealth-quality health care to this community,” says Hoke Campus president Susan Beaty, R.N., “and we are now happy to be able to provide high-quality surgical services here. We have offered cataract surgery for several months now, and we hope to add even more surgical services to our campus as needs are identified.”
The orthopaedic surgeries currently being offered on the Hoke Campus include outpatient hand/wrist/elbow surgery including procedures for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s contracture and tennis elbow. Outpatient fracture repair surgeries are also being done for injuries such as wrist, finger, and ankle fractures.
The surgeon providing the services is Dr. Christopher M. Johnson, who specializes in orthopaedics and joint replacement with Pinehurst Surgical. Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia.
He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was fellowship trained in orthopaedic hand surgery at the University of Tennessee – Campbell Clinic in Memphis.
The ENT surgeries being performed on the Hoke Campus are tonsil and adenoid procedures, septoplasties (correction of deviated nasal septum) and tympanoplasties (eartubes) as well as procedures involving minor skin/mouth lesions and neck masses.
The surgeon providing the services is Dr. Matthew R. Grafenberg, who specializes in ear, nose, throat and head and neck surgeries, also with Pinehurst Surgical. Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) and the American Board of Sleep Medicine, he earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland.
He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in otolaryngology at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Both Dr. Johnson and Dr. Grafenberg hold office hours in FirstHealth’s Physician Offices and Specialty Center at 6322 Fayetteville Road, Raeford (adjacent to the Hoke Campus hospital).
Cataract surgeries have been offered on the Moore Regional-Hoke Campus since last April and are performed by Dr. Anna F. Fakadej and Dr. Tarra Wright Millender. Both are ophthalmologists with Carolina Eye Associates.
