PINEHURST – A psychiatrist with an extensive background in  child and adolescent psychiatry is now a member of the FirstHealth Behavioral Services team.

Before joining FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Dr. Mary E.  Lunde practiced child psychiatry at Centracare Health System/St. Cloud Hospital,  St. Cloud, Minnesota, where she served as vice chair of the Behavioral Health Department. Among various other responsibilities,  she oversaw the ongoing development of early adolescent and high school programs for young patients and supervised family medicine residents and  medical students.

Dr. Lunde received a B.A. degree in chemistry from Minnesota  State University in Mankato before earning her doctor of osteopathy (D.O.) degree from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida.

She completed her internship and residency in the Department  of Psychiatry and Psychology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and was fellowship-trained in the Mayo Clinic’s Department of Child and Adolescent  Psychiatry and Psychology. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry  and Neurology and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the  American Psychiatric Association.

At FirstHealth, Dr. Lunde specializes in the treatment of  children and adolescents in addition to adult patients who suffer from mental  health conditions. Her areas of professional interest include depression,  anxiety disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorders and substance abuse disorders.
