PINEHURST – FirstHealth Dental Care has received donations of health care products under a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Global Product Donation Program.
Several donations, valued at between $5,000 and $25,000 over the course of two years, will allow FirstHealth to more effectively carry out its mission and expand its ability to provide care for underserved children.
“It is an honor to receive this grant from Henry Schein Cares,” says Sharon Nicholson Harrell, DDS, director of FirstHealth Dental Care. “Our mission is to serve and care for the underserved population in Moore, Montgomery and Hoke counties, and this grant will allow us to continue to provide that necessary care.”
In the past 15 years, FirstHealth Dental Care has provided dental care to more than 25,000 underserved children. About 70 percent of the children seen during the program’s very first year of operation had either never seen a dentist at all or hadn’t been to the dentist in more than a year. Children from birth to 21 years who receive Medicaid or Health Choice or who are uninsured and qualify by income level are eligible for the program’s services.
The world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, Henry Schein Inc. provides several health care product donations throughout the nation. Assistance makes possible access to health care for underserved and at-risk populations in the areas of wellness, prevention, treatment and education, emergency preparedness and relief, and capacity building.
