PINEHURST – The outpatient medical director of the Behavioral Services program for FirstHealth of the Carolinas will be a featured presenter for the Third Annual NCHA Behavioral Health Summit in Pinehurst next month.
Fernando A. Cobos, M.D., will speak on “10 Things You Didn’t Know about Addiction” during the morning session of the Dec. 2 program at the Pinehurst Resort.
Board certified in both general and addiction psychiatry, Dr. Cobos has been a member of the FirstHealth medical staff since 2005. A recognized expert in addictions and their treatment, he earned his medical degree from Colombia’s Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and served his internship and residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.
At the NCHA Behavioral Health Education Summit, behavioral health clinical experts, consumers and policy-makers come together in an effort to improve behavioral health care for North Carolinians. The closing speaker for the upcoming program will be Antoinette Tuff, the DeKalb County, Ga., elementary school bookkeeper who single-handedly talked an armed student out of a planned shooting spree at the school in August 2013.
