PINEHURST – A psychologist who specializes in adult inpatient and outpatient psychological services has joined FirstHealth Behavioral Services.
Joel M. Monroe, Psy.D., received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Heidelberg University and earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C.
He completed his residency at Broughton Hospital in Morganton, N.C., and a postdoctoral fellowship in psychotic disorders at the Medical College of Georgia.
In his adult psychological practice, Dr. Monroe offers individual and group psychotherapy, cognitive remediation and social skills training, and psychological and neurocognitive assessment.
His clinical interests include schizophrenia and psychotic spectrum disorders, chronic mood disorders, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery, personality disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions and adult general mental health.
He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis and the Society for Personality Assessment.
