The pink breast cancer awareness ribbons in the box held by Edie Guilbault, of Edible Arrangements in Southern Pines, are actually ribbon-shaped pieces of pineapple covered in pink-shaded white chocolate. The local Edible Arrangements shop will donate “pineapple pops” in the shapes of ribbons or high heels to the Mammography Department at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital during the week of Oct. 13-17 to promote breast cancer awareness. Women having a mammogram at the hospital during that time will get one of the edible fruit goodies and a coupon for a free six-count fruit box from Edible Arrangements along with a plastic water bottle infuser donated by FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Guilbault is shown with (at left) supervisor Tina LaForge, RT(R)(M), and secretary Angel Bullard of the Moore Regional Mammography Department. October is being observed nationally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
