Bear Creek resident Maggie Baldwin joined other successful weight-loss surgery patients along with bariatric surgeons David Grantham, M.D. (left), and Raymond Washington, M.D. (right), for the “Celebration of Success 2014” weight-loss reunion hosted by the Bariatric Center of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. The 73 people attending the Sept. 29 event in the Clara McLean House included 39 weight-loss surgery patients who have lost a total of 2,895 pounds or the equivalent weight of a Eurocopter AS350 B3 Star helicopter. The program featured motivational speaker Colleen M. Cook, president of Bariatric Support Centers International, and Curt Shelvey, owner of Curt’s Cucina in Southern Pines. Both are themselves successful weight-loss surgery patients.
