FirstHealth Moore Regional Hosting Online NICU Reunion

PINEHURST – Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital will be hosting a new kind of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) reunion.
The event will take place on the Clarke NICU’s newly created Facebook page and all family members who have children who are Moore Regional NICU graduates are invited to attend – throughout the year.
“This reunion is different from the ones we have done in the past,” says Karen Robeano, R.N., DNP, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital chief nursing officer. “Instead of just one day to celebrate our graduates, we have decided to celebrate them this particular week, and also throughout the year.”
“Many of the babies that are born at Moore Regional end up moving from the area,” says Kendra Groff, R.N., FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Women and Children’s Services administrative director. “We thought it would be nice for our families to have a place to connect and share stories in the years to come.”
Families are encouraged to share their pictures, stories, reconnect with nurses and encourage other NICU families during the week. Sept. 15 is National Neonatal Nurse Day, and Clarke NICU nurses will be recognized during the reunion week on the Facebook page.
The week before, family members are encouraged to stop by the FirstHealth Conference Center to leave their mark on a piece of art that will be displayed in the NICU for years to come.
The Level III NICU at Moore Regional Hospital provides specialized medical care for premature and sick newborns. The 13-bed NICU is staffed by specially trained nurses and physicians and is family-centered to ensure that infants requiring more than routine nursery care can still have their families close by.

Former NICU families are encouraged to stop by the FirstHealth Conference Center Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 9 to 11 a.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 10 from noon to 2 p.m.; or Thursday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. to leave your mark in the Clarke NICU. The FirstHealth Conference Center is located on the corner of Yadkin Road (HWY 211) and Page Road in Pinehurst.
