New Primary Care Provider Joins FirstHealth Office on Hoke Campus

RAEFORD – Tabitha M. Bedini, M.D., knew she wanted to be a doctor from the time she was a little girl.
She always enjoyed helping people and “got a jump” on a career in health care by working as a certified nursing assistant in a nursing home when she was still in high school and volunteering in Fayetteville's VA Hospital when she was in college.
In September, Dr. Bedini will become the newest primary care provider with FirstHealth Primary Care & Cardiology in Raeford. Like the current providers in the practice’s primary care office, she will serve as a hospitalist physician for FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus and see patients in the outpatient clinic in the FirstHealth Physician Offices & Specialty Services building next door.
Dr. Bedini, who grew up in neighboring Cumberland County, is “super-excited” by the opportunity.
“I wanted to come back home and practice,” she says. “That was a given already, that I would come back to the area. As soon as I walked into FirstHealth, I knew this was what I had to do. When I walked onto the Hoke Campus, I thought this is the place I have to be.”
Dr. Bedini earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Fayetteville State University, her bachelor's degree in medical science from Saint Eustatius University's School of Medicine in Netherlands Antilles and her M.D. degree from the American University of Antigua.
She completed her residency in family medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. Board certified in family medicine, she is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association and American Board of Family Medicine.
Because Dr. Bedini believes in being proactive with health care, she especially looks forward to working with young people.
“The earlier we can get to patients, the more effective we can be,” she says.
