FirstHealth Expands Orthopaedics Care in Montgomery County

TROY – The addition of a second surgeon and a physician assistant has increased the availability of orthopaedics services to FirstHealth patients in Montgomery County.

Orthopaedic surgeon David Casey, M.D., has been seeing patients in Troy for one day a month for the past several years. With the addition of David Fedder, M.D., and physician assistant Robert Keller, PA-C, that coverage has increased to one day a week.
All three providers are affiliated with Pinehurst Surgical’s Orthopaedic Surgery & Joint Replacement Center. Their Troy office is located in Suite 201 of FirstHealth’s Medical Arts Building (by FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital).
“We are very excited about this expansion of orthopaedics services to the Montgomery County community,” says Beth Walker, president of Montgomery Memorial Hospital. “This allows local patients more opportunity for the quality care that these providers offer. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
With the expanded services, patients can now see one of the orthopaedic providers on the following schedule:
- Dr. Fedder, second and fourth Mondays, 8:45 a.m. to noon
- Keller, first and third Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Dr. Casey, last Friday of each month, all day as needed
Dr. Fedder received his medical degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago and his internship and residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Ohio.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he also has a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
Dr. Casey received his medical degree from Boston University in Massachusetts and completed his internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He returned to Boston University for a residency in orthopaedic surgery before completing a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Keller earned his bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies from Alderson-Broaddus College in Phillippi, W.Va. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
At FirstHealth Orthopaedics, patients can be evaluated and receive post-operative follow-up for the following conditions

- Sports injuries and injuries of the bones, tendons and muscles
- Diseases of the muscles and tendons
- Bone and muscle tumor management
- Bone and joint infections
- Back pain
In addition to these services, physical therapy for orthopaedic conditions is available in Montgomery County at Montgomery Memorial’s inpatient Blair Hall and at Montgomery Memorial Outpatient Rehabilitation.
