ROCKINGHAM – The FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital has been recognized by Healogics Inc. as a Center of Distinction.

The award recognizes the center’s outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, which include a patient satisfaction rate of 94 percent and a wound healing rate of 94 percent in addition to other quality outcomes.

More than 500 centers were eligible for the Center of Distinction Award, but only 157 achieved the honor.

“This designation is recognition of what I have witnessed over the past eight months of my association with the clinic,” says Jeffrey R. Gibbons, M.D., the full-time wound care physician with the FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at Richmond Memorial. “This is a skilled, caring staff that provides a great service to the community.”

The FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics program offers specialized care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“To be named a Center of Distinction is a great honor,” says John Jackson, president of Richmond Memorial Hospital. “The staff is committed to providing the best of care, and its success in doing that is reflected in the program's wound healing rates and patient satisfaction scores.”

Headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., Healogics is the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Wound Care & Hyperbarics Center at Richmond Memorial Hospital is a member of the Healogics Network of more than 550 centers that see nearly 200,000 patients throughout the nation each year.
