FirstHealth’s New Hoke ED Gets National Patient Care Recognition
| Date Posted: 3/10/2014
RAEFORD – FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus has been open only since October, but its Emergency Department has already been nationally recognized for its quality of care.
The Hoke Campus ED has been named a Top Performer and Five-Star facility by Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a national health care research-marketing firm based in Omaha, Neb. The recognition was based on a random survey of patients who sought emergency department treatment at the Hoke facility between October and December 2013, its very first quarter of operation.
“It’s an honor for Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus to be recognized as a top performer in overall quality of care,” says FirstHealth CEO David J. Kilarski. “It often takes years of dedication and hard work to achieve this level of success, but MRH-Hoke Campus has attained this success in just a few short months. I congratulate our team of very caring and committed professionals for this outstanding achievement, and I am grateful to Hoke County and the surrounding communities for their continued support. We look forward to continuing to provide the community with top-quality health care for many years to come.”
Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus opened its doors to patients on Oct. 7, 2013, and is anchored by the 24/7 emergency department that is staffed by the same emergency medicine practice that staffs all FirstHealth hospitals.
“We have been overwhelmed by this community’s support of our facilities and services,” says Susan Beaty, R.N., administrator of FirstHealth MRH-Hoke. “We are especially pleased to find that we have not only greatly exceeded our goals for emergency department and inpatient volumes in these first few months of operation, but we have done it while maintaining the excellent quality and customer service for which FirstHealth is recognized regionally. This PRC recognition for excellence is the result of the collaborative efforts of a team of caring professionals who have taken immense pride in this facility and in caring for the people of Hoke and Cumberland counties.”
To be considered for a PRC Excellence in Health Care Award, a hospital is judged against all other health care organizations in similar categories in the national PRC database. Award winners in the Hoke Campus category came from the database’s top 10 percent (at or above the 90th percentile).
“High patient satisfaction in our Emergency Department is one of FirstHealth’s goals for 2014,” says Cindy McNeill-McDonald, R.N., FirstHealth vice president, Quality. “It is especially important for our new Hoke facility.”
The 2014 PRC award winners will be recognized during Excellence in Healthcare Awards Luncheon and Dinner Celebrations on June 10 in St. Louis, Mo.
