Cropping for Cancer

The Feb. 22 Cut Out Cancer Crop at Pine Needles raised $11,612.21 for the Cancer CARE Fund of The Foundation of FirstHealth. FirstHealth employees and other scrapbooking enthusiasts started the event nine years ago to raise money for the Foundation fund that helps cancer patients acquire medication, wigs, nutritional supplements and other cancer-related needs. The money that was raised came from registration fees, donations, vendor fees, raffles, a “Queen of the Crop” game, a yard sale and a silent auction as well as from an auction at a Raleigh Crop hosted by N.C. Scrapbook Retreats and Crop. Pictured during the one-day Moore County event are Cut Out Cancer Crop Committee members (from left) Suzanne Bunnell, FirstHealth Patient Accounts; Connie Goodrum; Maria Mitchem; Tammy Everett; Cindy Ward, director, FirstHealth Cardiology and Cardiovascular Clinics; Bambi Dutton, FirstHealth Patient Care Administration; Shannon Goodrum Sigmon; and Sharon Sweat.
