RAEFORD – FirstHealth primary care and cardiology physicians are now seeing patients in the Physician Offices & Specialty Services building adjacent to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus.

Primary care physicians Mahalia R. Guerrier, M.D., and Vicki Hardy, D.O., and cardiologist Debbie R. Thomasson, M.D., are accepting patient appointments in FirstHealth Primary Care & Cardiology at 6322 Fayetteville Road, Raeford.

Dr. Guerrier received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica. She completed an internal medicine residency at Mary Immaculate Hospital and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, both in Jamaica, N.Y.

Before joining FirstHealth, Dr. Guerrier was an internal medicine provider with a practice in Parkersburg, W.Va. She currently serves as a hospitalist (inpatient physician) at Moore Regional-Hoke Campus in addition to seeing patients in the outpatient primary care practice.

She is board certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Hardy earned her medical degree from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Ill., and completed a family medicine residency with Duke/Southern Regional Area Health Education Center’s Family Medicine Program in Fayetteville.

A resident of Fayetteville and a U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Hardy was a family medicine provider with Raeford medical practice before joining FirstHealth.  In her current practice, she provides health care for the entire family.

She also serves as a hospitalist at Moore Regional-Hoke Campus.

Dr. Thomasson joined FirstHealth Cardiology earlier this year and previously had an office in the FirstCare building in Raeford. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and served her internship and residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center of the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Board certified in both internal medicine and cardiology, she completed cardiology fellowships at Texas Tech University and Indiana University-Purdue University.

The primary care practice also includes certified physician assistant Jim Shaffer, P.A.-C, who is available to see walk-in patients. Shaffer, who also works as a hospitalist at Moore Regional-Hoke Campus, received his physician assistant training at Methodist University in Fayetteville.

The just-opened Physician Offices & Specialty Services building is connected by a hallway to Moore Regional-Hoke Campus. A staged opening of the office building will continue through early next year with ENT, orthopaedics, and wound and hyperbaric care among the additional services to be offered.

Other services will be added as community needs are identified.
