PINEHURST – Karen Robeano, R.N., DNP, has become the new vice president for Patient Care Services/chief nursing officer at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Previously, she was chief nursing officer for Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, an 835-bed Magnet-designated tertiary facility that is part of the regional OhioHealth system.
“We are extremely excited to have Karen Robeano join our FirstHealth team,” says Brian Canfield, chief operating officer, Moore Regional Hospital. “She is a talented and highly trained clinician who will help lead our organization to an even higher level of excellence in patient care.”
Earlier in her career, Robeano served as chief nursing officer, VP, Patient Care Services with Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. She also served in numerous nursing and patient care service leadership capacities with Mount Carmel Health in Columbus, Ohio, and she began her nursing career as a staff R.N. in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Columbus Children’s Hospital.
A graduate of The Ohio State University in Columbus with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing, Robeano earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She completed the Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellow for Nurse Executives program in June 2010, and is an active member of the American Organization for Nurse Executives.
She and her husband, Michael, recently relocated to Moore County.
“I am happy to be a part of the FirstHealth team, and to have joined an organization that so actively and visibly supports nursing,” Robeano says. “I left a Magnet-designated facility to join another one, and I hope to help Moore Regional and its affiliated Richmond Memorial campus continue to provide the quality and patient-focused care that this national nursing designation epitomizes and that FirstHealth patients have come to expect.”
In her position with Moore Regional, Robeano succeeds Linda Wallace, R.N., who retired in May 2011. Cheryl Batchelor, R.N., director of Moore Regional Clinical Operations, served as interim chief nursing officer until Robeano assumed her new role on Feb. 25.
